Stationary Love

I am in love with Tiny Prints. They have printed almost every stationary related product for me in the last few years, which is quite a bit. As a southern girl, I love personalized stationary, I just do. We have used them for thank you notes, birthday invitations, birth announcements, Christmas cards, and latest was Presto's baptism invitation which came out really cute. They have so many options many of which are pretty modern, which definitely appeals to my art background. I also have to say that their customer service is great, I have only had one little mix up and they fixed everything and discounted my order. With great quality and service I am loyal to the end.

Sick

Presto is sick for what seems like the millionth time. Actually he is a really healthy baby but it just sucks so bad when he is sick it seems like it is too often. He is finally clearing up some, tonight before he went to bed he sounded so much better. I am hoping that he waked up tomorrow and feels great. To all of you with kids that are wishing for the end of cold season, I feel your pain.

Oink Oink

Presto has always loved his cousin's counting piggy bank. He plays with it every time he is at his house. For his birthday they know just what to get him, and now Presto has his own. He plays with it every morning. Presto has always had a thing about having things in his hands. He loves to hold stuff, preferably in both hands. The little coins are the perfect. He constantly has them in his hands, the only problem is I have to try and find them all over the house. When you push his snout, the pig sings, and Presto dances, it is really cute.

New Stuff, New Favorites

Presto's first birthday came and went, and now we have loads of new stuff to play with. Thankfully we also have loads of new clothes, because he does not seem to stay clean for long. We also have a new batch of favorites. By far his favorite of the new is his drum. We saw the Remo drums at the Discovery Museum, and Presto loved them. He cried when we had to leave. Thankfully for amazon.com we now have one of our very own. I have to admit, his dad likes the drum just as much if not more, in fact he thinks we need whole drum set now, but Presto really does love it. Between this one and his other drums, you hear a whole lot of drumming around our house during the day. Who knows maybe one day he will be a rock star.

Birthday Madness

Today we had Presto's first birthday party and it was a total success. Presto's cake came out pretty good, he totally loved it, every time we walked by it today he would get super excited. We only had a few kids which was good because they did not need anymore stimulation. One chased around another and tried to kiss the other one constantly, and then when he did not want anymore kisses he started biting. They all made pretty good messes with their cupcakes which is totally cute.

I kind of thought he would make more of a mess, but he just was really not sure what to do with it. It must be kind of weird to be strapped in a chair have cake thrown in front of you and have like 20 people watching your every move. It definitely took him a little while to get into it. Later tonight we went out to dinner and had one of the best moments of the day. It was someone else's birthday, and the waiters and chefs came out to sing. Everyone in the restaurant sang and then clapped, and Presto thought it was the best thing ever. He loves to clap, and he loves when others clap. If he could have given a standing ovation he would have. He clapped with serious bravado. He bounced up and down. He laughed. It was fantastic. Now we all need sleep.

Birthday!

So my little Leprechaun had his 1st birthday yesterday! I can not believe he is 1. He also got his first black eye, which is another story, but I am totally upset about it. I know it will go away, and I know that the reason I am upset is stupid, but I am a mom and I really hate that in the pictures from his first birthday, and Birthday party and Baptism he is going to have a shiner. Oh well, one day I will probably look back and laugh, but today I am bummed. Hopefully he will heal fast and it will have faded some by Saturday.

Tornado

Presto has turned into a major tornado, He pulls everything out of his drawers, closet, boxes, diaper bag, and even pulls my clothes off of the hangers and out of my closets. I have to admit as exhausting as constantly cleaning up after him is it is really cute. How can you be mad when he gets such enjoyment out of it.

March Kid Book of the Month

So I have switched to kid book of the month instead of week because it is just way more manageable for me. The pick for March is Peekaboo Playtime. Presto loves this book, he turns the pages and lifts the flaps. I have to admit we have already had to tape one of the flaps back on, but he still loves it. He could seriously read it for hours, we go through forward, then backward, then random pages, it is one of his favorite things to do.

Leave your Change at Home

I really wish people would mind their own business. I am not a bad mom, in fact I think I am a pretty good mom but I hate how people are so judgemental. I took Presto to Macy's with me to get him some pj's. Yes it was a little cold outside, and yes it was raining off and on, but that was outside. We were in the store, a heated store. Presto was in his stroller and was fully clothed when we came in, but as babies do as we went through the store he kept taking off his shoes and socks and throwing them on the ground. After putting them back on about 4 times and almost losing them twice I finally gave up and put them in my pocket for the duration of our shopping. I got so many looks and comments from people about how his feet must be freezing, and they could not believe I would let my baby go around with no shoes on, I thought I was going to loose my mind. Have none of these people ever had children, because I guarantee if they have they did not all have little mellow babies who kept their clothes on all of the time. Considering I had to take my coat off ans was walking around in a t-shirt I have to believe that his toes were not going to fall off from frostbite. And yes I did put his socks and shoes back on before we went outside again. I really am not a bad mom. So please even though the economy sucks I do not need your 2 cents.

Magical Kindle

My Mom gave me a Kindle for Christmas, and I have to say, I am totally in love. Don't get me wrong, I love books, I always have, but is is so compact and easy to carry around, and quiet. I know what you are thinking, books aren't loud, but to a baby sleeping on your lap, as mine is prone to doing, turning pages can be like a marching band coming through the living room. With my Kindle I can let Presto have a little cuddle time and still exercise my brain somewhat. I was trying so hard after I had him to keep reading, and now I finally can. It is amazing how much better my brain works with a little mental exercise.

Lazy Blogger

So it has been forever since I last posted. I have just not had much time lately, with Presto having the highly erratic napping schedule that he has, and a general need to get things done, my blogging has fallen by the wayside. I am trying to mend my ways and hope to get back to regularly updating.

Skwinkle

Presto's Grandmother bought him a couple of new toys while she was visiting. He loves the skwinkle from Manhattan Toy Company. He really is a fan of all of the toys he has from them. This one is great because he can easily hold onto it and still get it in his mouth. When he shakes it it makes noise but thankfully not a loud obnoxious noise. We give it 2 slobbery thumbs up.

Squawk Rock

This week's is Kings of Leon - Molly's Chambers. Presto and his dad dance around to this one.

Just a Little Rant

There is nothing worse than neighbors who set off their own car alarm like 5 times in a row while your baby is trying to take a nap. Do you really have to set the alarm every time you are walking the 20 feet back to your house to get another load of stuff to put in the car, and in that maybe 1 minute you somehow forget that you set the alarm. It is not that hard people.

Back to Normal, Almost.

Grandparentpalooza is almost over. Presto has one more night of babysitting tomorrow and then we can get him back to his normal routine, and I could not be more ready. He developed a habit of refusing to sleep while my Mom was here. He would not nap, and he did not really sleep much at night. Last night was still bad until about 1:00am until he finally gave up and went to sleep for a few hours instead of waking up about every 45 minutes. He is definitely a baby that benefits from a routine. It does not have to be super strict, but he likes a little continuity. I know she is excited to see him and she loves to play but he really needs a little bit of quiet time before he takes a nap or goes to bed.
I have to say he loved having her here though. He would get a big smile every time he saw that she was still here in the morning.

Not So Pampered Pampering

So as I said in my last post on Tuesday I got a haircut, and it is not so good. The cut itself is not bad but the color is. I was daring and went to someone new and buy was it a mistake. I thought it would be fine, her hair looked nice, and she saw the color of my previous highlights and said that the new highlights would be a warm color to match what I already had. Normally my highlights are pretty natural looking, they are not that far off of my hair color and blend in pretty well. My new hair color is not natural looking and really streaky. She added highlights and low lights. The highlights are like a platinum blond, and the low lights are darker than my hair was to begin with. Basically I think my head looks like a white tiger. OK, so it is probably not really that bad but to me it is. My husband keeps saying he likes it, but I think he is trying to be nice. He says he is way to honest to try to be nice but I think he knows I am upset and wants to make me feel better. I know my Mom will be honest, she is not very good at masking the truth. I keep hoping that I am just not used to it and it will grow on me, but it is not working. Every time I pass a mirror I hate it more. Hopefully the color will die down with a few more washings, or I can find someone out here to fix it, otherwise I will be waiting until I go back to TX for Thanksgiving to have my old guy fix it. I tried to get my Mom to put him in her suitcase.

Grandparentpalooza

Presto might have grandparent overload this week. His local Grandparents watched him for a couple of hours on Sunday so we could go to a movie. Then we went to their house for dinner on Monday. Then they watched him on Tuesday so I could get a much needed but not very cute haircut (but that is another story.) Now my Mom is coming in town today. We are all going over to his Grandparent's house for dinner tonight. My Mom is babysitting tomorrow night and Saturday night because we have a rehearsal dinner and a wedding, and she is staying at our house until Monday. Maybe Presto will be so exhausted by Monday he will sleep great all week unlike his constant waking of last night. Most likely though I will be the one that ends up more exhausted than I already am.

Squawk Rock

This week is Billy Idol's Dancing With Myself, because Billy Idol still rocks.
